Signed to Virgin Music by Mark Dean, the man who discovered George Michael, Nick Wood has been composing and producing music since the age of 19.
His creative relationship with longtime friend, Simon Le Bon, took off when the two collaborated on the soundtrack for the documentary film, Drum, in 1987.
In 1988, Simon and Nick established Syn in London. In 1991 they relocated Syn’s headquarters to Tokyo.
Over the past two decades, Nick has produced and composed scores for hundreds of commercials. In 2002, his hit single, Passion, the theme song for Kirin’s `Love Sports` campaign, reached #1 on Japan’s Oricon chart.
Nick has released several full-length albums on various labels, including Victor Entertainment (JVC), Sony Music Entertainment, Toshiba EMI, and Syn Records.
In 2004, his single, Free, was pre installed on au/KDDI’s stylish Talby phone designed by Marc Newson. Becoming the first soundtrack ever to be released for a mobile phone. Talby also boasted ten ring tones produced by Nick.
Fulfilling a long-term ambition, Nick has written scores for several feature films. He composed the soundtrack of “Dream Island” a film directed by Wim Wenders.
He also co-wrote the score for the Mario Van Peebles film, “Love Kills” with Simon Le Bon and wrote the soundtrack of “Coo” an animated film whose title song was sung by Julian Lennon.

In March 2009 Nick has just finished creating the new campaign song for Coca Cola Zero and J-League called “Wild at Heart”. The Chakuta, or true tone version will be available from music.jp on March 23rd. Nick is already working on a full-length version of this song to be released later in the year.
ニック・ウッドは19歳の時に、ジョージ・マイケルを発掘したディレクターとして知られるマーク・ディーンによりヴァージン・レコードと契約を結び、以来、作曲、制作を行ってきた。
昔からの友人であるサイモン・ル・ボンとの共同事業は、1987年ドキュメンタリー映画「ドラム」のサウンドトラック制作でコラボレーションしたことをきっかけに始まり、二人はロンドンにSynを設立する。ニックが日本のポップアーティストに提供した曲が数々のヒットを収めたことをきっかけに、1991年、二人はSynの拠点を東京に移す。
2002年にはキリンのラブスポーツキャンペーン曲であるシングル、“パッション”が日本のオリコンインターナショナルチャートでナンバー１を記録する。“パッション”は2002年サッカーワールドカップ期間中にオンエアされ、2006年の開催時にも流される。
ニック自身はプログラミングをLogic 7で行い、ピアノ、キーボード、ベースを弾き、ボーカルもこなす。
2004 年にリリースされたシングル“Free”はau by KDDIのデザイン携帯“talby”にプリインストールされた初の携帯用サウンドトラック。マーク・ニューソンによってデザインされた“talby”にはその他にも、ニックがプロデュースした着信音が10タイププリインストールされている。
また長年の間、映画音楽の制作にも熱意を注いできた。これらには、ヴィム・ヴェンダース監督の“Dream Island”、サイモン・ル・ボンと共作したマリオ・ヴァン・ピープルズ映画“Love Kills”、ジュリアン・レノンとともに手掛けた“遠い海から来たCoo”などが挙げられる。
また、これまでに多くの様々なアーティストと共作／共演をしてきた。サイモン・ル・ボン、ドクター・ジョン、ロバート・パーマー、ジュリアン・レノン、スティービー・サラス、ヴァン・ダイク・パークス、そしてクリス・コーナーなどが名を連ねる。
6 月7日には “Passion – The Game of Life”というタイトルで英語の歌詞、モスクワ・シンフォニー・オーケストラそして屋敷豪太のドラムスを収めたPassionの新バージョンをマキシシングルとしてリリースする。このCDにはHase-Tそしてニューヨークのダニエル・リーによるリミックスが２曲収録されている。
